Caregiver Coaching

Americans have become well known for their enduring love affair with the automobile.

The coach's agenda is to "focus on each person's genius" and to help them solve their own issues, first by prioritizing and then by "developing a structure that helps them solve their current issue", so that, "when the next issue comes up, they can do it on their own."

Alzheimer's disease is what people fear the most - more than major life-threatening diseases like cancer, stroke, heart disease and diabetes. Driving demands good judgement, quick reaction times and split-second decision making. A diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease alone is not a reason to take away driving privileges. But due to the progressive nature of Alzheimer's, a person with the disease will eventually be unable to drive.

As a way of providing an essential tool for families working with an older driver, Keeping Us Safe has developed the "Beyond Driving with Dignity" workbook. It is designed to be used by families as a tool to meet the demands of a potential problem when you become concerned about the senior driver's ability to remain a safe driver.
