I have just turned eighty, am I too old to drive?

March 1, 2016

I’ve sure gotten old! I have outlived my feet and teeth. I’ve had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes. I’m half blind, can’t hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded and subject to blackouts, Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can’t remember if I’m 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends. But, thank God, I still have my driver’s license.

No, I have just turned 80 and I can still drive because I have used the “Beyond Driving with Dignity” workbook developed by “Keeping Us Safe, LLC” to keep my skills updated and my family informed.

Working through this instrument will help your family make driving-related decisions that are not only in the best interest of the older driver, but simultaneously find themselves in the best interest of highway safety in general. The workbook was designed to be used by your family in the confidence and comfort of your own home, most likely seated right at your family’s kitchen table.
